Take Away
This is course was admittedly the most challenging course of my M.Ed journey; both in regards to effectively understanding the content and meeting Dr. Rempel's high expectations. This skills-based course provided an opportunity for participants to explore the technical components of educational research and effective critique research examples. A variety of topics were practiced such as ethical guidelines, methods of data collection, and how to connect theory to research models. Students were left with the ability to understand the philosophical, ontological, and epistemological aspects of educational research.
The course schedule saw participants attend a series of three video-classes in which the topic of discussion included a combination of lecture, large-group discussion, and student presentations. In the weeks following a video-class participants continued dialogue through a series of short performance tasks hosted through the Moodle community.
Included in my assignment exemplars are: 1) a theoretical research framework and 2) a development model of qualitative and quantitative research instruments.
*I would like to note that I later went on to take two more courses with Dr. Rempel, 02:782 and 02:783, and her high expectations resulted in me having some of the most rewarding learning experiences of this journey; thank you for everything you've taught me!
